Patna, July 15 (NationPress) The Union Minister of State for Home, Nityanand Rai, has stated that while isolated incidents of crime continue to occur in Bihar, decisive action is being taken against offenders, marking a significant departure from previous governance.

Speaking to the media in Patna on Tuesday, Rai fiercely criticized the leadership of former Chief Minister Lalu Prasad Yadav, asserting that during his administration, criminals frequented the Chief Minister's residence, where they were provided with accommodations and hospitality by ministers.

Rai remarked, “Today is not that time. If crime persists, the law is also active. Those who once enjoyed protection are now facing consequences.”

Emphasizing the term 'Jungle Raj' for the era of Lalu-Rabri, the Union Minister claimed that criminals previously received direct political protection, while the current NDA government is committed to ensuring accountability.

In response to Leader of Opposition (LoP) Rahul Gandhi's comments labeling Bihar as the 'crime capital', Rai urged Gandhi to reflect on Bihar's past conditions and recognize the progress made under the NDA.

“Development is underway, with initiatives for farmers and students, increased income for the populace, and a surge in prosperity. At the very least, Rahul Gandhi should celebrate these transformations,” Rai stated.

Addressing the Grand Alliance's concerns over the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the voter list, Rai noted that the Election Commission reviews the voter list prior to every election, and only those with something to conceal raise objections.

“Those who fear are often those who have added their names to the voter list using fraudulent documents. An honest individual has no reason to be afraid,” Rai emphasized.

Regarding the reported deletion of 35 lakh names from the voter list in Bihar, Rai reiterated that the Commission's survey is a standard pre-election procedure designed to maintain clean voter rolls.

“Those who procured voter cards with the assistance of Tejashwi Yadav are the ones protesting. Why should the honest be fearful?” he queried.

Rai concluded by stating that whenever Prime Minister Narendra Modi visits Bihar, he brings new developmental initiatives for the residents, with the people eagerly anticipating his arrival in Motihari on July 18.

Point of View
