No Mercy for Those Involved in Sarpanch Santosh Deshmukh's Assassination: Fadnavis

Mumbai, Dec 31 (NationPress) Just hours after NCP Minister Dhananjay Munde's close associate Walmik Karad, who was wanted in an extortion case related to the heinous murder of sarpanch Santosh Deshmukh in Beed district, turned himself in to police in Pune, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis declared on Tuesday that the government will take strict action against anyone involved in this crime.
"From day one, I have maintained that rigorous action will be enforced against all those implicated in the Santosh Deshmukh murder case. Violence of this nature cannot be tolerated. The police will pursue all necessary measures until every perpetrator is brought to justice," he stated during a press conference.
"We will not allow criminal elements to thrive. Acts of violence and ransom demands are unacceptable. As a result, we have expedited the investigation, leading to Walmik Karad's surrender. Various teams are now working diligently to apprehend the remaining fugitives involved in this murder. We will ensure that no one is overlooked; all responsible parties will be located," asserted the chief minister.
Fadnavis also mentioned that he had a conversation with Dhananjay Deshmukh, the brother of the deceased Santosh Deshmukh, on Tuesday. "I assured him that the police will take all necessary actions until the offenders face justice," he added.
The CM confirmed that there is no external pressure on the Criminal Investigation Department (CID), which is currently investigating the murder of sarpanch Santosh Deshmukh. "The police will update on the nature of charges to be filed against the accused and the procedural steps to be taken. I assure you that no one will escape scrutiny based on the evidence available. This case has been entrusted to the CID with full independence. There will be no outside influences on their operations," he elaborated.
Regarding the calls from opposition parties and various groups for Dhananjay Munde to resign, the chief minister remarked, "I prefer not to engage in political discourse on this matter. I have made it clear that actions will be taken based on the emerging evidence. My priority is to ensure that those accountable for the murder of the late Santosh Deshmukh are penalized. Some individuals are solely focused on political maneuvering. I am not interested in such politics. They may continue their activities as they wish."
In the meantime, following Walmik Karad's surrender to the CID, former MP Sambhajiraje Chhatrapati insisted that he should be prosecuted under the Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA), promising not to rest until Karad faces charges under this act.
He also urged that Dhananjay Munde should resign and not retain the guardian ministership of Beed. "Appoint anyone else, but to ensure justice for Deshmukh's family in this matter, Munde should not hold the guardian ministership," he commented.
