Maharashtra: Chief Minister Fadnavis Engages with Family of Murdered Sarpanch, Promises Justice

Mumbai, Jan 7 (NationPress) The relatives of the late Massajog sarpanch Santosh Deshmukh, who was viciously murdered on December 9, met with Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Tuesday to demand justice and firm action against those responsible for this heinous crime.

After the meeting, Dhananjay Deshmukh, the brother of Santosh, informed reporters: "The Chief Minister has assured us that regardless of who the suspects are in the Santosh Deshmukh murder case, they will face consequences. Criminals will not go unpunished... that's the promise made by the Chief Minister.

"We brought several official documents to the Chief Minister's attention, including details of 28 FIRs filed since May, and stressed the need for action on those matters. We made it clear to the Chief Minister that we seek justice.

He further stated: "We presented evidence regarding the murder of Santosh Deshmukh and discussed it in detail. Our only request is for justice. An unbiased investigation is necessary. We insist that those responsible must face the law. We also called for a review of the CDRs mentioned in the FIRs.

When asked if they requested the resignation of NCP minister Dhananjay Munde, he replied that the Chief Minister would decide on that issue.

Moreover, Dhananjay Deshmukh mentioned that the Chief Minister accepted all their requests and assured them that those involved in the incident would be held accountable.

He further added that the Chief Minister promised to share the investigation findings within two days.

The Chief Minister's Office confirmed: "The CM has assured that the government will take stringent action against all offenders. The names of the police officials recommended by the Deshmukh family will be included in the special investigation team that is currently looking into the murder of Santosh Deshmukh.

BJP legislator Suresh Dhas emphasized that the Chief Minister has made it clear to the Deshmukh family that no one will be exempt from punishment. Regarding the demand for NCP minister Dhananjay Munde's resignation, he stated that individuals associated with the case should be relieved of their duties.

Earlier, NCP minister Dhananjay Munde attended a weekly cabinet meeting at Mantralaya and told the press: "I have not resigned. I am present for both the pre-cabinet and cabinet meetings. Let BJP legislator Suresh Dhas persist in demanding my resignation. I will respond at an appropriate time.

Following that, Ajit Pawar, the NCP President and Deputy Chief Minister, dismissed the notion of seeking Munde’s resignation.

"There are ongoing SIT and judicial investigations. Let these agencies conclude their inquiries. Action will be taken only if the investigation implicates anyone," he stated.
