New Delhi, Aug 8 (NationPress) In the ongoing debate surrounding the electoral rolls in Bihar, the Election Commission of India (ECI) declared on Friday that no political party has lodged any claims or objections concerning the draft rolls in the election-ready state.
As of now, the ECI has received a total of 6,257 claims directly from voters, but there have been no submissions from political entities.
The Election Commission has consistently assured that all eligible voters will be included, while ineligible individuals will be excluded from the final electoral roll of Bihar.
Electors have been instructed to submit “claims and objections” to correct any inaccuracies in the draft electoral roll, published on August 1, following the Enumeration Phase under the SIR 2025.
Despite the claims and objections period commencing over a week ago, the EC reports that no political party has raised any claim or objection.
The ECI's press release indicated that, concerning the claims and objections for inclusion and exclusion regarding the Draft Roll, a total of 6,257 complaints have been sourced directly from voters.
Moreover, forms received from new voters who have recently turned 18 years old or older have totaled 36,060.
According to the new regulations, the claims and objections from electors will be processed by the relevant Electoral Registration Officer/Assistant Electoral Registration Officer (ERO/AERO) seven days after submission.
Furthermore, the Commission noted that, per SIR directives, no name can be removed from the draft list published on August 1, 2025, without a formal order from the ERO/AERO following an inquiry and providing a fair chance to the concerned parties.
On July 21-22, lists of Absent, Dead, and Shifted (ADS) voters were made available to Booth Level Agents (BLAs) from all recognized political parties in the state. With the release of the draft electoral rolls on August 1, booth-wise and constituency-wise lists of unpublished voters were also distributed to political representatives.
According to the ECI, 1,60,813 booth-level workers from six national parties and six state-level parties participated in this initiative, including BJP with 53,338 workers, Congress with 17,549, RJD with 47,506, and Janata Dal (United) with 36,550.
