Guwahati, June 4 (NationPress) With continuous rainfall causing significant flooding and landslides throughout the Northeastern region, Union Minister for Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER) and Communications, Jyotiraditya M. Scindia, has expressed the Central government's readiness to provide extensive assistance to the impacted states.
In a series of urgent communications, Minister Scindia contacted the Chief Ministers of Assam and Sikkim, as well as the Governor of Manipur, to assess the situation and convey the Centre's unwavering support for the people of the region.
During his discussion with Sikkim Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang, the Minister guaranteed the Centre's complete cooperation, stating, "We are steadfast in our commitment to assist the people of Sikkim during this difficult period."
He also assured Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma of all essential support for relief and rehabilitation efforts.
The Minister further communicated with Manipur Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla to address the effects of the adverse weather conditions in the state, reaffirming the government’s dedication to providing all necessary aid.

Recent casualties were reported from Hailakandi, Sribhumi, Morigaon, Cachar, Sonitpur, and Tinsukia districts. Sribhumi is the most severely impacted, with 2,31,536 people affected, followed by Nagaon with 99,819 and Cachar with 89,344.
