New Delhi, May 28 (NationPress) The northeastern region is pivotal for India's ambitious $30-trillion vision towards a Viksit Bharat by 2047, as stated by the Prime Minister's Office (PMO) on Wednesday.
In response to a post on X by Union Minister for the Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER), Jyotiraditya Scindia, the PMO asserted, “Northeast India is no longer a frontier; it has become a front-runner.”
The PMO encouraged readers to explore Scindia's article, which elaborates on the region's evolution into a strategic hub for trade, connectivity, and the nation's $30-trillion vision for Viksit Bharat.
Previously, Scindia emphasized that the northeast is essential for achieving a $30-trillion economy.
“I have written my article on how the Northeast is evolving into India’s strategic gateway to Southeast Asia, accelerating trade, connectivity, and our $30-trillion objective for a Viksit Bharat,” the minister noted in his post.
During the recently held ‘Rising North East Investors Summit 2025,’ Scindia remarked that the northeastern region has emerged as a center for global partnerships and mutual interests.
He revealed that the two-day summit attracted a record investment proposal of Rs 4.3 lakh crore, paving the way for the Northeast Region (NER) to become India’s next economic powerhouse.
“We will maintain B2G and B2B dialogues, with the Ministry for DoNER serving as a bridge between investors and state governments to ensure that every approved project is swiftly implemented,” he assured.
Delegations from over 80 countries, including Japan, Europe, and ASEAN nations, participated in the summit, all echoing the sentiment that India’s future is anchored in the Northeast.
The Centre has adopted a “whole-of-government” strategy for the development of the northeastern region by establishing eight high-level task forces across critical sectors: agriculture, sports, investment promotion, tourism, economic corridors, infrastructure, textiles and handicrafts, and animal husbandry, allowing each state to create its own roadmap.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has affirmed that the Northeast now provides top-tier talent across various sectors, urging industries and investors to tap into the region's vast potential.
