New Delhi, Oct 26 (NationPress) The northeastern region has experienced a significant transformation thanks to the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, with substantial investments flowing into sectors such as tourism, industry, and skill development, stated Union Consumer Affairs Minister Pralhad Joshi on Sunday.
In a post shared on the X social media platform, the minister highlighted that consistent visits, dedicated initiatives, and targeted governance are driving unprecedented growth across the northeastern states.
“The North East, historically overlooked for decades, has undergone a remarkable transformation under the guidance of PM Modi,” he noted.
While addressing the 15th O.N.E. (Our North East) India Award 2025, Joshi remarked, “Events like this play a crucial role in reinforcing the cultural and emotional connections between the North East and the rest of India.”
“All states in the northeast are now linked by railways, airports, and highways, with significant investments directed towards tourism, industry, and skill development. We are dedicated to constructing an India where every citizen, region, and culture flourishes with equal opportunities,” he added.
The investment from the Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region (MDoNER) for projects in the northeast reached an unprecedented level of Rs 3,447.71 crore in FY 2024–25, marking a 74.4 percent increase compared to the prior year and over 200 percent growth in the last three years.
Efforts like weekly review mechanisms and digital tracking via the 'Poorvottar Vikas Setu' portal have enhanced transparency and efficiency, achieving 97 percent project inspection coverage and 91 percent operationalisation of completed projects, according to Minister for Communications and Development of North Eastern Region, Jyotiraditya M. Scindia.
In a significant governance reform, the ministry has established Chief Minister-led high-level task forces across eight sectors, including tourism, investment, handicrafts, agriculture, infrastructure, sports, north east economic corridor, and protein self-reliance.
These task forces are promoting inter-state collaboration, facilitating policy alignment, and ensuring that development efforts are integrated regionally instead of being confined to individual states.
