New Delhi, Oct 26 (NationPress) In the 127th episode of his monthly radio programme 'Mann Ki Baat', Prime Minister Narendra Modi praised the innovative spirit of India's youth and their growing bond with the nation's cultural heritage.
He specifically highlighted young content creators who are modernizing Sanskrit, spirituality, philosophy, and music through social media platforms.
"When we think of Sanskrit, we often associate it with our 'religious texts', 'Vedas', 'Upanishads', 'Puranas', ancient knowledge, spirituality, and philosophy. However, it was also once a language of communication," remarked PM Modi.
"In historical times, research and studies were conducted in Sanskrit, and dramatic performances were also held in this language. Unfortunately, both during the period of servitude and after independence, Sanskrit has faced ongoing neglect," he continued.
He acknowledged that this neglect has led to a waning interest in Sanskrit among the younger generation.
"However, dear friends, times are transforming, and so is Sanskrit. The realms of culture and social media have rejuvenated Sanskrit. Nowadays, many young individuals are engaging in fascinating work related to Sanskrit," he stated.
Providing examples, PM Modi said, "On social media, you'll find numerous reels featuring young people discussing Sanskrit. Many even teach Sanskrit through their platforms. One such young creator is Bhai Yash Salunke. Notably, Yash is both a content creator and a cricketer, and his reel showcasing cricket while speaking in Sanskrit has gained immense popularity."
He also commended sisters Kamala and Janhavi, calling their contributions "fantastic," adding, "These sisters create content about spirituality, philosophy, and music."
"Another young creator is behind an Instagram channel called 'Sanskrit Chhatroham'. The individual running this channel not only shares information about Sanskrit but also creates humorous videos in the language. These videos are well-received by the youth. Many of you might have also seen Samashti's videos, where she presents her songs in Sanskrit in various creative formats. Additionally, Bhavesh Bhimnathani discusses Sanskrit shlokas, spiritual philosophy, and values," PM Modi noted.
The Prime Minister emphasized that language is a vital vehicle for culture and values.
"Language carries the traditions and values of any civilization. For thousands of years, Sanskrit has fulfilled this role. It is heartening to see that some young individuals are now taking up their responsibility towards Sanskrit as well," he concluded.
