Prayagraj, Feb 10 (NationPress) With millions of devotees anticipated to gather on the banks of the Triveni Sangam for the fourth Amrit Snan of the Maha Kumbh Mela on Maghi Purnima, the Indian Railways has introduced a robust plan to effectively manage the vast crowds.

In a conversation with IANS, Himanshu Shekhar Upadhyay, Chief Public Relations Officer of Northern Railway, reassured the public on Monday that the railway authorities are well-equipped to handle the influx of pilgrims, stressing that their main objective is to guarantee safe and efficient transportation for everyone.

"It’s not about increasing the crowd, but rather about managing it effectively. These aren’t just crowds; these are devotees, and it’s our duty to assist them to the best of our capabilities. We’ve made special provisions based on previous experiences and are collaborating closely with the state government to ensure seamless operations," he mentioned.

He also pointed out the ongoing supervision by government officials who are diligently monitoring the preparations for the Kumbh Mela.

“As you’ve observed in the last three or four years, our minister is actively engaged in the event, supervising it multiple times throughout the day and night. Our team is committed to the same level of dedication and effort," he added.

To manage the increasing wave of pilgrims, Upadhyay confirmed that the railways is ready to enhance services. "We can increase the number of trains if required. Last year, we ran 364 special trains to accommodate the rising number of devotees, and if demand surges again, we are prepared to repeat this achievement," he stated.

Maghi Purnima, which will occur on February 12, is one of the most spiritually significant days in Hinduism. On this day, millions of pilgrims will gather at the Triveni Sangam, where the Ganga, Yamuna, and the legendary Saraswati rivers meet, to partake in the sacred bath believed to cleanse them of past sins and lead them toward spiritual liberation.

The day signifies the fourth Amrit Snan of the Maha Kumbh Mela 2025, attracting people from all over India and beyond to this holy site. Devotees believe that bathing in the sacred waters on Maghi Purnima bestows immense religious merit, purifying the spirit and fostering a connection to the divine.

With anticipated crowds reaching millions, the railways’ strategic plans aim to ensure the smooth movement of devotees to and from the sacred city, prioritizing both safety and comfort.
