Prayagraj, Feb 11 (NationPress) Preparing for another significant surge of pilgrims on Magh Purnima this Wednesday, the Indian Railways has escalated its operations and established sufficient arrangements to ensure a smooth and secure journey for the multitude of devotees traveling to the revered city of Prayagraj for the Maha Kumbh.

Magh Purnima signifies a crucial occasion in the Kumbh celebrations, leading to a large gathering of worshippers for the sacred dip.

In a statement to IANS, Shashi Kant Tripathi, the Chief Public Relations Officer of North Central Railway, detailed the comprehensive measures implemented to secure passenger safety and convenience, affirming that the railways are thoroughly ready to accommodate the influx.

"In advance of Maghi Purnima, we have boosted the number of special and regular trains traveling to Prayagraj," he stated.

"This adheres to our established protocols from past festivals like Mauni Amavasya and Makar Sankranti. We are ensuring that devotees can travel without hassle, focusing particularly on crowd management across all eight railway stations in Prayagraj."

As part of the comprehensive arrangements, over 300 trains are operational to alleviate the pressure on the stations. Special Mela trains are integral to the plan, with 154 Mela special trains running on February 10 alone, continuing in the days leading up to Maghi Purnima. The railways operated roughly 225 special trains during Mauni Amavasya, setting the stage for the ongoing festive season.

Besides augmenting train services, the railways have instituted structured protocols for passenger safety.

"To regulate crowd movement, we have established specific entry and exit points at the stations, featuring single-sided entry from the city side and exit via the Civil Line side," Tripathi elucidated.

"We are also utilizing the Khusro Bagh platform when passenger shelters become congested to prevent overcrowding."

To ensure comfort and safety for all travelers, the Railways is also offering medical services and additional security measures to prevent any incidents of stampede.

"We urge devotees to comply with the instructions from railway personnel and to disregard rumors that might incite chaos. By adhering to designated areas and maintaining composure, we can guarantee that everyone reaches their destination safely," Tripathi concluded.

Maghi Purnima, occurring on the full moon day in the month of Magha, is of great spiritual importance for Hindus. Devotees will immerse themselves in the Ganga, conduct rituals like Satyanarayan Puja, and seek blessings for prosperity and spiritual wellness. This day is considered one of the most auspicious in the Hindu calendar.
