Kochi, Nov 24 (NationPress) The infamous burglar Bunty Chor remains in preventive custody after being apprehended on Sunday night under preventive measures, as confirmed by officials on Monday.

He was arrested by the Railway Police at the Ernakulam South Railway Station around 8 p.m. on Sunday, shortly following his arrival from Delhi by train.

Initially, Bunty, recognized nationwide for executing high-profile burglaries using advanced techniques, claimed he had come to Kochi to consult with his lawyer.

However, police suspicions increased when he mentioned that his legal representative was a ‘popular’ lawyer, B.A. Aloor.

Authorities noted that Aloor had passed away in April this year, making Bunty’s explanation dubious and his motives unclear.

According to the investigation, Bunty allegedly indicated that he intended to meet his lawyer to recover certain belongings that were held in police custody from his prior arrest in Kerala. The items are reportedly sealed as part of older case records.

Law enforcement is now scrutinizing whether his statement has any legal foundation or if it serves as a ruse for a different agenda.

Although there are no active cases against him in Kerala at this time, officials justified his preventive detention due to his criminal history and exceptional burglary skills.

Bunty is known for his ability to dismantle sophisticated security systems, pick any lock, and steal high-end vehicles, making him a person of interest to law enforcement agencies across various states.

His first significant connection to Kerala was a burglary at a residence in Thiruvananthapuram in 2013, which resulted in his arrest and conviction.

Since then, he has been under close surveillance by police forces nationwide due to his notoriety and mobility.

Authorities suspect that his sudden presence, lack of clear documentation, and misleading claims about his lawyer indicate a potential ulterior motive.

His movements, contacts, and travel history are currently being thoroughly investigated.

Officials have confirmed that Bunty will remain in preventive custody in Kochi until his intentions and connections in Kerala are completely verified.
