New Delhi, Jan 24 (NationPress) On Saturday, Secretary of School Education and Literacy, Sanjay Kumar, officially launched the Grand Finale of the National School Band Competition (NSBC) 7 for the academic year 2025–26. This initiative aligns with the Education Ministry's commitment to nurture various talents outside traditional academic settings, as outlined in the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020.
During the event at National Bal Bhavan, Defence Secretary Rajesh Kumar Singh emphasized the importance of the competition in fostering discipline, teamwork, and musical excellence among school students nationwide.
Kumar highlighted the historical connection between school bands and the armed forces, where music has been a vital emblem of valor, unity, and morale.
He remarked that even in the most trying wartime scenarios, military bands have played an essential role in uplifting spirits and fostering a sense of togetherness, stating, 'Participation at the national level itself is a significant milestone, reflecting months of rigorous practice and dedication by students.'
Singh commended the partnership between the Ministry of Defence and the Ministry of Education in establishing this competition as a key feature of the Republic Day celebrations. He praised the students for their commitment and musical prowess, underlining that such events cultivate a profound sense of patriotism and national service among youth.
Amarpreet Duggal, Joint Secretary, DoSEL, concluded the event with a Vote of Thanks, expressing appreciation to all dignitaries, participating schools, mentors, and organizing teams for their contributions to the event's success.
In the Grand Finale, while Delhi has one participating school, Jharkhand leads with three schools making the cut. These include: St. Xavier’s High School in Lupungutu, Kairali School in Dhurwa, and Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalaya in Kanke, all from Ranchi.
Two schools from Uttar Pradesh have also reached the finale: St. Joseph College in Lucknow and City Montessori School, also in Lucknow.
