Mumbai, Oct 10 (NationPress) Revenue Minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule, who leads the Cabinet Sub Committee focused on OBC matters, asserted on Friday that there will be no disruption to OBC reservation despite the government resolution issued on September 2 concerning Kunbi certificates for Marathas. He emphasized that the MahaYuti government is dedicated to safeguarding the rights and interests of OBCs.
His comments came in response to multiple OBC organizations staging a protest on Friday, calling for the revocation of the September 2 resolution, arguing that OBCs are at a disadvantage as Marathas are infringing on their quota.
“Regarding the reservation for OBCs and the September 2 resolution about Kunbi certificates for Marathas, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and both Deputy Chief Ministers assured the all-party delegation that OBC reservation will remain intact,” the minister stated.
He further insisted that the government is determined to defend OBC rights, noting that there is public confusion about Kunbi certificates and the potential for fraudulent certificates.
“I assure you that only individuals genuinely eligible as Kunbi Marathas will receive these certificates. Congress leader Vijay Wadettiwar should dispel the confusion. The government will ensure that everything proceeds correctly, as I, along with the committee chairman, will oversee this,” he expressed.
Regarding the upcoming Shiv Sena UBT protest in Marathwada, the minister remarked that those who have neglected the region's development, behaving like Nizams, are now advocating for progress.
“Our MahaYuti government is not merely renaming places; we are committed to elevating Marathwada’s development and enhancing the living conditions of its residents,” he added.
The minister highlighted that the MahaYuti government made a landmark decision to rename Aurangabad to ‘Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar.’
“The Congress and Uddhav Thackeray have treated Marathwada unjustly, like Nizams, and have deliberately stunted its growth. We are not just changing city names; we are prioritizing Marathwada’s development,” he asserted.
He also mentioned that Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has initiated the provision of five bags of sand at no cost for every one of the 30 lakh houses approved under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana in the state.
Addressing the agricultural damage and losses incurred by farmers due to recent heavy rains and floods, the minister remarked that the government is actively ensuring the effective delivery of the relief package announced earlier this week.
“Our statewide tours aim to verify that the announced package reaches all affected farmers. Anyone omitted from the Panchnama will also be included,” he concluded.
