Bhubaneswar, May 27 (NationPress) The School & Mass Education (S&ME) Department of Odisha has declared that strict measures will be enforced against teachers and staff implicated in Unfair Means (UFM) during the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) board examinations at two centers in the Bargarh district this past February.
In an official announcement released on Tuesday, the state government also revealed that the results for Class X and XII students from six CBSE-affiliated schools—including four government-run Odisha Adarsha Vidyalayas (OAVs)—who took the exam at these centers and had their results withheld, have now been published.
Importantly, CBSE recently made public the results of the 2025 Class X and Class XII board exams on May 13, 2025.
Reports of malpractice surfaced at two examination centers in Bargarh district: OAV Bandhupalli and Padampur Public School. A total of six schools, including the four OAVs, had students sitting for their examinations at these locations, as stated by the government.
Following an inquiry report from the CBSE Regional Office in Bhubaneswar on May 26, the state government noted that CBSE had formed a Sub-Committee to investigate the allegations.
The committee, after reviewing all available evidence, including answer sheets, reports, CCTV footage, and related documents, confirmed that unfair practices were indeed utilized at these two centers.
Consequently, the CBSE has advised the state government to impose strict penalties on the offending teachers and staff at the examination centers during the CBSE board exams.
The state government has taken a serious stance on this issue, emphasizing that the use of unfair means in examinations is a disservice to diligent students and negatively impacts their futures. In accordance with CBSE's recommendations, the state government is enacting stringent measures against the implicated teachers and staff.
Furthermore, students found to have engaged in unfair means, as per CBSE's report on May 26, will be required to participate in the supplementary examinations commencing on July 15, 2025, or the main examination in 2026.
The state government has reaffirmed its commitment to a zero-tolerance policy regarding the use of unfair practices in examinations.
