Jaipur, April 12 (NationPress) After six years since the sacrifice of CRPF Jawan Hemraj Meena during the Pulwama attack, a joyful atmosphere enveloped his residence on Saturday as the courtyard of Veerangana (war widow) Madhubala echoed with the sounds of festivity and music in preparation for her daughter’s wedding.
Amidst the celebrations, a profoundly emotional moment occurred when Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla made an appearance with ‘Mayra’ (a traditional offering of rice and gifts from the maternal family), fulfilling a promise he made six years prior to the widow.
In the wake of Hemraj's sacrifice, his family was engulfed in grief and uncertainty. During that challenging period, Speaker Birla supported them, pledging to be a brother to Madhubala and to stand by the family through all their joys and sorrows.
Since that time, Madhubala has tied a rakhi on him each year during Raksha Bandhan and performed rituals on Bhai Dooj, embodying the bond of sisterhood.
