Chhatarpur, July 3 (NationPress) A tragic incident unfolded at Bageshwar Dham in Madhya Pradesh on Thursday, resulting in the death of one individual and injuries to eight others when a section of a waterproof tent collapsed due to severe rain and high winds.
The collapse happened shortly after the morning Aarti, as a large gathering of devotees had taken shelter under the tent from the downpour.
This assembly was part of the ongoing ‘Balaji Divya Darbar’ and the imminent birthday celebrations of Dhirendra Krishna Shastri, the head priest of Bageshwar Dham.
As reported by Ashutosh Shrutia, in-charge of Bamitha police station, water accumulation on the tent in front of the Darbar Hall combined with strong gusts of wind led to the unfortunate collapse.
“Eight individuals sustained injuries, with four in serious condition,” the officer stated.
All injured parties have been transported to Chhatarpur District Hospital.
The deceased was identified as Shyamlal Kaushal, 50, from Sikandarpur in Basti district, Uttar Pradesh. His son-in-law, Rajesh Kumar Kaushal, informed the media that their family traveled from Mankapur village in Gonda district to attend the spiritual event.
They had just begun their darshan when the rain commenced. While seeking refuge under the tent, it unexpectedly collapsed. An iron angle struck Shyamlal on the head, resulting in his immediate death.
Among the injured were six family members, including Rajesh’s wife Saumya and their daughters Parul and Unnati.
Dr. Naresh Tripathi from the district hospital confirmed the fatality and stated that the body has been sent for a post-mortem examination.
