Operation Sindoor at one year: India marks decisive anti-terror strikes on PoK, Pakistan
Synopsis
India on Thursday, 7 May 2026, marked the first anniversary of Operation Sindoor — the precision military strikes launched by Indian armed forces against high-value terror infrastructure across Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) and Pakistan exactly one year ago. The operation was carried out in direct retaliation for the Pahalgam terror attack of 22 April 2025, in which 26 civilians were killed by Pakistan-backed militants.
What Operation Sindoor Was

The strikes targeted high-value terror bases in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir, combining military and non-military measures in what the government characterised as a demonstration of India's strategic and military capability.
The operation, according to the Indian Army, successfully neutralised terrorist threats, deterred further aggression, and reinforced India's zero-tolerance policy towards terrorism — while maintaining what officials called strategic restraint.
