New Delhi, June 23 (NationPress) In the midst of ongoing debates regarding seat-sharing and leadership roles within the INDIA coalition in Bihar, Purnia MP Pappu Yadav underscored that the top priority must be to overthrow the BJP-led NDA, rather than squabbling over who should be the Chief Minister. He asserted the pivotal role of Congress in this political struggle, stating, “I have addressed this issue multiple times. Congress possesses significant strength. However, within the alliance framework, it is Congress's responsibility to defeat the NDA in states like Bihar. It is the duty of Congress. Congress has the capability. Nationwide, it is solely Congress that can challenge the BJP. When it comes to managing alliances and adhering to coalition principles, Congress has consistently taken the initiative.”
Yadav also conveyed a clear message to RJD and other INDIA bloc constituents: “I urge RJD to concentrate on defeating the NDA, not Congress. The selection of the Chief Minister can occur later. The immediate goal is to vanquish the NDA. Only Congress can bring down the BJP.”
He criticized the NDA for its lack of internal transparency, saying, “Just observe the conflicts within the NDA. They haven’t even resolved who will be the Chief Minister. Amit Shah has already indicated that decisions will be made not before but after the elections. When Amit Shah speaks, it is deemed final, almost like a divine mandate. His word is the ultimate authority. In contrast, Congress makes decisions from the ground up through the CWC, which is not how it functions in their structure,” he commented.
On the subject of leadership ambitions within the coalition, Yadav remarked, “It is natural for everyone to aspire to be Chief Minister. Every leader in their respective parties has the right to voice their opinions. Regarding the alliance, Rahul Gandhi, Mallikarjun Kharge, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, and leaders from other parties will convene, and only then will the coalition determine who the Chief Minister will be.”
He also proposed that positioning Rahul Gandhi as the face of the bloc could aid in unifying the coalition and providing a robust alternative to the BJP.
“Currently, Narendra Modi's face is being promoted while Nitish Kumar's image is being sidelined. Similarly, if Rahul Gandhi’s face is highlighted, only then will the INDIA bloc appear formidable and cohesive,” he concluded.
