What Are the Preparations for 'Operation Shield' Mock Drill?

Jaipur, May 30 (NationPress) Rajasthan's Chief Secretary Sudhansh Pant led a significant meeting at the Government Secretariat on Friday to assess the preparations for the second phase of the civil security initiative "Operation Shield", set for tomorrow, as confirmed by government officials.

This mock drill is designed to test the state's civil defense readiness and response capabilities, following the directives issued by the Union Home Ministry.

During the meeting, Pant highlighted the necessity of bolstering communication infrastructure, ensuring that all sirens and communication systems are in optimal working order.

He encouraged officials to incorporate the insights gained from the initial mock drill to improve their preparedness for potential war-like situations.

Additionally, he instructed civil defense controllers to identify the timing for the drill and blackout protocols based on local conditions, ensuring that the details remain confidential to effectively replicate a real-time emergency scenario.

The Chief Secretary also emphasized the critical nature of inter-agency collaboration, quicker response times, and strict compliance with civil defense protocols throughout the exercise.

Director of the Directorate of Civil Defense, Jagjit Singh Monga, provided an in-depth overview of the roles and responsibilities for various departments and agencies participating in the drill.

These agencies include the Indian Air Force, medical services, local authorities, home defense units, the Energy department, police forces, and district administration.

Their coordinated efforts during the exercise will play a vital role in assessing the effectiveness of the state's disaster response systems.

Senior officials in attendance included Additional Chief Secretary (Home) Anand Kumar, Director General of Police U.R. Sahu, Director General (Intelligence) Sanjay Agarwal, Additional Director General (Law and Order) Vishal Bansal, and Nathmal Didel, Managing Director of Rajasthan Vidyut Prasaran Nigam Limited.

Representatives from the Indian Army, Air Force, and Civil Defence Department were also part of the meeting.

Divisional Commissioners, Inspectors General of Police, District Collectors, and Superintendents of Police participated via video conferencing.

"Operation Shield" is a comprehensive state-wide civil defense mock drill aimed at evaluating emergency preparedness, enhancing inter-department coordination, and ensuring efficient disaster response throughout Rajasthan.

This exercise reflects the state government's proactive strategy to fortify internal security and crisis management mechanisms.
