Mumbai, March 2 (NationPress) The Maha Vikas Aghadi has unanimously resolved to boycott the traditional tea gathering hosted by Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on the eve of the Budget session of the State Legislature, pointing to the failures of the MahaYuti government on all fronts.
This decision was reached during a meeting held at the residence of the Leader of the Opposition (LoP) in the State Council, Ambadas Danve.
The four-week Budget session is set to commence on Monday.
Danve informed reporters: "In a letter addressed to Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, the Opposition expressed that attending the customary tea gathering would be a disgrace to farmers, laborers, and ordinary citizens. Thus, the Opposition has chosen to boycott it. The government needs to clarify its position regarding farmers, the working class, and common citizens in the State Legislature. This decision by the Opposition is a symbolic display of the frustration felt by the populace against the state government."
Danve, joined by Shiv Sena-UBT legislators Aaditya Thackeray, Bhaskar Jadhav, and Sunil Prabhu, along with NCP-SP legislator Jitendra Awhad and Congress legislator Bhai Jagtap, alleged that the law and order situation in the state has deteriorated with increasing crimes against women, stating that the state government is not taking these incidents seriously.
Aaditya Thackeray criticized the government regarding the molestation case involving Union Minister of State Raksha Khadse's daughter in Jalgaon district, directly targeting Chief Minister Fadnavis, who also holds the position of state Home Minister.
"Fadnavis has served as Home Minister for ten years, except for the short span of the Maha Vikas Aghadi government. The police are hindered, criminals are receiving leniency, which leads to such occurrences," he asserted.
He posed several questions during his critique of the state government.
"Why is action not taken against those in power while only those outside of power face consequences? You were elected through EVMs; will you honor your promises? Will you increase the funds for your beloved sister or not?" he questioned.
Aaditya Thackeray mentioned that President Droupadi Murmu has returned the Shakti Act, which was passed by the State Legislature to combat crimes against women, including a provision for the death penalty.
He accused the MahaYuti government of having internal conflicts that are negatively affecting governance in the state.
Danve claimed that Walmik Karad, the main suspect in the murder of Massajog sarpanch Santosh Deshmukh, is receiving VIP treatment in prison.
Despite a prohibition on alcohol in the Maoist-affected districts of Gadchiroli and Wardha, 7,000 cases have been recorded, he stated.
Danve also alleged that a scam has occurred within the Agriculture department, while the tender exceeding Rs 3,000 crore issued during the tenure of former Public Health Minister Tanaji Sawant has been retracted by Chief Minister Fadnavis.
Additionally, the tender for the acquisition of 1,310 state transport buses, which was hastily awarded prior to the Assembly election during the administration of former CM Eknath Shinde, has also been suspended, he noted.
Danve criticized the state government regarding the distress experienced by farmers and its inaction to support them amidst falling soybean prices.
