Srinagar, April 26 (NationPress) Following the Pahalgam terror attack, the J&K Police, along with the army and security forces, have escalated their operations, resulting in the detention of 175 individuals for interrogation.

“Numerous raids have been conducted across various locations in the Anantnag district. Continuous search operations are in effect, accompanied by increased vigilance. To date, approximately 175 suspects have been apprehended to disrupt the support networks facilitating terrorist activities,” stated an official.

He further mentioned that to boost security, additional Mobile Vehicle Check Points (MVCPs) have been set up throughout the district to oversee suspicious movements and ensure public safety.

“Cordon and Search Operations (CASOs), ambush tactics, and increased patrolling have commenced, particularly in densely forested areas, to eliminate any potential terrorist presence and secure the region. The police, in collaboration with allied security forces, remain dedicated to preserving peace and preventing any attempts to disturb normalcy in the district,” he added.

The official urged public cooperation, advising citizens to report any suspicious activities to the nearest police station.

At least 26 tourists lost their lives on Tuesday when gunmen opened fire on innocent civilians in Baisaran, Jammu and Kashmir.

Eyewitness reports indicate that a group of heavily armed terrorists emerged from the neighboring forests and unleashed indiscriminate gunfire on civilians, predominantly targeting tourists.

Baisaran is a small meadow located about three to four kilometers from the Pahalgam market, accessible only by horse as there is no motorable road.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi returned to New Delhi on Wednesday morning after cutting short his trip to Saudi Arabia due to the terror attack.

He held a brief meeting with NSA Ajit Doval, External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar, and Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri at the airport. PM Modi vehemently condemned the terror attack on Tuesday, asserting that those responsible will face justice and reaffirming India’s “unwavering” commitment to combat terrorism.
