Sharif emphasized that the entire nation supports the armed forces, and the resolve and morale of the Pakistani people remain high.
Previously, the Indian Army reported that it targeted nine locations deep within Pakistan in response to the Pahalgam terror attack.
“Recently, the Indian Armed Forces initiated ‘Operation Sindoor’, striking at terrorist infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir, which have been the bases for planning and directing terrorist assaults against India,” the army stated in a press release.
The Indian Army also shared on its official X account, “Justice is Served. Jai Hind.”
“In total, nine (9) sites have been engaged. Our operations have been deliberate, measured, and non-escalatory. No military facilities of Pakistan have been targeted. India has shown significant restraint in choosing targets and executing the operation,” the army clarified.
These actions were prompted by the heinous Pahalgam terrorist attack that resulted in the deaths of 25 Indians and one Nepali citizen.
“We are committed to ensuring accountability for those responsible for this attack. A comprehensive briefing on ‘Operation Sindoor’ will take place later today,” the army reported.
Meanwhile, the Director General of the Pakistani Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), Lt Gen Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry, confirmed the strikes on his nation.
“The missile strikes launched by India targeted Kotli, Bahawalpur, and Muzaffarabad in a cowardly assault amidst escalating tensions between the two nations following a militant attack in occupied Kashmir,” the Pakistani Army affirmed.
Tensions between these two nuclear powers have intensified following the Pahalgam attack, which claimed the lives of 26 civilians, predominantly tourists.
