New Delhi, July 28 (NationPress) Both Houses of Parliament were adjourned until noon on Monday due to the continuous sloganeering and disturbances caused by Opposition MPs.
The Lok Sabha saw particularly chaotic scenes as Opposition members rushed to the Well of the House, chanting slogans and dispersing pamphlets, which led Speaker Om Birla to intervene forcefully.
As the session commenced, Speaker Birla chastised the protesting MPs, stating, "Honourable Members, do you wish to disrupt the House? Do you not want to discuss Operation Sindoor? You asserted that Operation Sindoor should be examined. Then why are you obstructing the House from doing so?"
He further addressed the Leader of the Opposition (LoP) in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, directly, asking, "Leader of the Opposition, please clarify to your party members. They were not sent to throw pamphlets in the House. Is this how you intend to behave? The country will witness that you personally disrupted the Question Hour, carried placards, and raised slogans."
Despite multiple warnings, the turmoil persisted, prompting the Speaker to adjourn the House until noon. The Rajya Sabha was similarly adjourned until noon.
This adjournment occurs just hours before a pivotal 16-hour-long debate on 'Operation Sindoor', anticipated to be a defining moment of the session, concentrating on national security and India's response to the Pahalgam terror attack.
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh will initiate the debate on 'Operation Sindoor' later today, outlining the government's stance on the objectives and results of the operation.
He will be joined by Home Minister Amit Shah and External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar, both expected to present the government's narrative regarding the Pahalgam terror incident and subsequent military responses.
Notable BJP MPs, including Anurag Thakur and Nishikant Dubey, will also contribute to the discussion, bolstering the government's position.
On the Opposition side, Congress MP and LoP Rahul Gandhi along with Rajya Sabha LoP Mallikarjun Kharge are likely to spearhead the counter-narrative.
They will be accompanied by Akhilesh Yadav, the chief of the Samajwadi Party, and several other Opposition leaders, all poised to scrutinize the transparency, execution, and impact of the operation.
Acknowledging the significance of the debate, the Congress party has issued a three-day whip to all its Lok Sabha MPs, ensuring their attendance in the House.
