Parliament Sessions to Restart Today Following Government-Opposition Accord

New Delhi, Dec 3 (NationPress) Following a week-long impasse between the government and the Opposition, an agreement has been established, enabling both Houses of Parliament to restart operations in the current Winter Session on Tuesday.
The floor leaders of all political parties met on Monday, convened by Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, and collectively agreed to hold a special discussion on the Constitution during this session. The government has consented to permit discussions on various issues, including the situation in Bangladesh and the violence in Sambhal, to be raised during Zero Hour.
According to the Business List for the Lok Sabha on Tuesday, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman will introduce The Banking Laws (Amendment) Bill, 2024 aimed at amending the Reserve Bank of India Act, 1934, Banking Regulation Act, 1949, State Bank of India Act, 1955, Banking Companies (Acquisition and Transfer of Undertakings) Act, 1970, and Banking Companies (Acquisition and Transfer of Undertakings) Act, 1980. The Bill will be presented for consideration and approval.
Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw is set to introduce The Railways (Amendment) Bill, 2024 to amend the Railways Act, 1989. This Bill will also be presented for consideration and passage.
Members of the Standing Committee on External Affairs, Shashi Tharoor and Ravi Shankar Prasad, will present various Reports: "(1) First Report on Action Taken by the Government on the observations/recommendations in the Twenty-sixth Report of the Standing Committee on External Affairs (17th Lok Sabha) regarding 'India and Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) - Contours of Cooperation'. (2) Second Report on Action Taken by the Government on observations/recommendations in the Twenty-seventh Report of the Standing Committee on External Affairs (17th Lok Sabha) concerning 'India’s Engagement with G20 Countries'. (3) Third Report on Action Taken by the Government on observations/recommendations in the Twenty-eighth Report of the Standing Committee on External Affairs (17th Lok Sabha) about 'Countering Global Terrorism at Regional and International Levels.'
Members Ashok Kumat and Malvika Devi will present statements on behalf of the Standing Committee on Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution. They will lay out the Final Action Taken Statements: "(1) Thirty-third Report on Action Taken by the Government on the observations/recommendations in the Twenty-seventh Report regarding 'BIS-Hallmarking & Jewellery' related to the Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution (Department of Consumer Affairs). (2) Thirty-fourth Report on Action Taken by the Government on the observations/recommendations in the Twenty-eighth Report concerning 'Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana (PMGKAY)' relating to the Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution (Department of Food and Public Distribution). (3) Thirty-fifth Report on Action Taken by the Government on observations/recommendations in the Thirty-first Report regarding 'Coarse Grains Production and Distribution' associated with the Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution (Department of Food and Public Distribution).
Union Minister Pabitra Margherita will deliver statements related to the reports of the Standing Committee on Labour, Textiles and Skill Development regarding 'Development and Promotion of Jute Industry' concerning the Ministry of Textiles.
In the Rajya Sabha, members of the Standing Committee on External Affairs will present several reports.
Minister Anupriya Patel will provide a statement regarding the status of implementation of recommendations in the 138th Report of the Department-related Parliamentary Standing Committee on Health and Family Welfare regarding 'Medical Devices: Regulation and Control'.
Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri will introduce The Oilfields (Regulation and Development) Amendment Bill, 2024, which seeks to amend the Oilfields (Regulation and Development) Act, 1948, and it will be taken into consideration for passage.
