New Delhi, Dec 22 (NationPress) Defence Minister Rajnath Singh participated in the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) between the Defence Research & Development Organisation (DRDO) and Rashtriya Raksha University (RRU) on Monday, aimed at enhancing research, training, and technological support for defence and internal security, according to an official announcement.
This MoU seeks to promote collaboration in education, capacity-building, and technology gap evaluation, as noted in an official statement.
The agreement was signed by Distinguished Scientist and Director General (Production Coordination and Services Interaction) Chandrika Kaushik alongside RRU Vice Chancellor Bimal N Patel, in the presence of the Defence Minister at South Block, New Delhi.
Also present was Secretary of the Department of Defence R&D and DRDO Chairman Samir V Kamat, as mentioned in the statement.
The MoU aims to bolster the nation’s self-reliance in defence and internal security technologies, aligning with the national vision of Aatmanirbhar Bharat and the comprehensive approach during Amrit Kaal.
This initiative underscores a mutual commitment to integrating technology, knowledge, and operational insights to enhance national security preparedness and strengthen India’s strategic autonomy in internal security.
Rashtriya Raksha University, recognized as an institution of national importance under the Ministry of Home Affairs and designated as a Nodal Centre for Defence Studies by the University Grants Commission (UGC), offers robust academic, training, and policy expertise in the realm of internal security.
As the premier defence R&D organization, DRDO contributes advanced indigenous technologies and system-level expertise to meet the needs of the Armed Forces and security agencies.
Through this MoU, both organizations will engage in joint research initiatives, PhD and fellowship programs, along with specialized training and capacity-building programs tailored for security forces.
The collaboration will also address emerging operational challenges, conduct technology gap analyses, forecast future requirements, and manage the life cycle of DRDO-developed systems introduced into the Central Armed Police Forces and other agencies under the Ministry of Home Affairs.
