Baramati, April 6 (NationPress) In a pointed criticism directed at the Congress party, Parth Pawar, son of former Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar and current MP from the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), voiced his strong discontent regarding the party's recent political strategies in Maharashtra, particularly its decision to contest the Baramati by-election. He cautioned that this move could lead to a considerable backlash from the electorate.

Parth Pawar described the Congress party's recent choices as indicative of its decline. “It is deeply misguided for a seasoned party with such esteemed leaders to make this decision. I sense this marks a significant downturn for Congress in Maharashtra,” he stated.

During a press interaction concerning the ongoing political tensions, Parth Pawar noted that there has been no recent formal communication between the two factions.

He raised concerns about the strategic direction of the Congress leadership, commenting, “I haven’t engaged with anyone. They [Congress] must comprehend what actions are necessary. I am unaware of their national leadership; they are prominent figures, and the prevailing situation is well-known.”

Parth Pawar warned that Congress might be underestimating the public's loyalty to “Dada” (Ajit Pawar). “If they have made their decision, so be it. But they will soon realize the ramifications in Maharashtra. The public does not forget easily,” he remarked.

“We cannot prevent anyone from proceeding. When the moment arrives, one must confront it. We are ready to tackle whatever comes our way; we will not call upon anyone. We will see what destiny has in store. I genuinely feel sorrow for the Congress party's current situation,” added Parth Pawar.

His remarks hinted at a widening gap within the alliance, indicating that the NCP is willing to chart its course independently of Congress’s present position.

By invoking the concept of “fate” and abstaining from further negotiations, he indicated a “wait and see” strategy, placing the responsibility for any ensuing repercussions firmly on Congress's leadership.

In response, the Congress party launched a counter-attack, criticizing Parth Pawar for his comments.

“Isn’t it somewhat excessive for someone who has just recently become an MP and struggles to deliver speeches effectively to comment on the Congress party's decline?” the Congress party questioned.

In a post on X, they further remarked: “This ungrateful son, who remained silent for political convenience to elude scrutiny in the land scam investigation following his father’s suspicious accidental death, should simply refrain from discussing the Congress party.”

“To pursue justice, the Karnataka government filed an FIR in their state, where the Congress party holds power. The official Congress candidate in the Baramati Assembly by-election is demanding that the suspicious accident be classified as a crime in Maharashtra, threatening to withdraw from the election. Shouldn’t this ungrateful son also address this matter?” the Congress party queried.

Point of View

The exchange highlights the growing tensions within Maharashtra's political dynamics, particularly between the NCP and Congress. Parth Pawar's comments suggest a strategic shift for the NCP, while Congress's response indicates a defensive posture amidst internal and external pressures.
