Patna, April 1 (NationPress) A dispute within the prominent Paswan clan in Bihar has emerged after Rajkumari Devi, the first wife of the late Union Minister Ram Vilas Paswan, accused others of unlawfully evicting her from her ancestral residence in Shaharbanni village, Khagaria district.
Rajkumari Devi, aged 75, filed an FIR at the Alauli police station against Shobha Devi (spouse of former Union Minister Pashupati Kumar Paras), Sunaina Devi (widow of late former MP Ramchandra Paswan), Amit Paswan (a bodyguard), and two drivers on Tuesday.
Her complaint states that on March 30 at roughly 3 p.m., the accused disposed of her possessions, including clothes and wedding jewelry, from her room, locked her bedroom and bathroom, and abandoned her on the veranda.
Rajkumari Devi mentioned that she has resided in the house for over 60 years and is now suffering from mental distress following her eviction.
The property in question is registered under the name of Ram Vilas Paswan’s father, Jamun Das. Alauli SHO Samrendra Kumar confirmed that an FIR has been filed and an investigation is currently underway.
Union Minister Chirag Paswan, the son of Ram Vilas Paswan’s second wife, Reena Paswan, is anticipated to arrive in Khagaria on Wednesday to help mediate the situation.
Chirag is known to have a deep respect for Rajkumari Devi and may strive for a resolution to the disagreement.
This incident has garnered significant political and public interest, as many are closely observing the developments within the Paswan family.
Strained relations between Chirag Paswan and his uncle, Pashupati Kumar Paras, have been escalating since the passing of Ram Vilas Paswan after a lengthy illness. The division intensified when Paras broke away from the Lok Janshakti Party (LJP) to establish the Rashtriya Lok Janshakti Party (RLJP), taking five MPs with him.
Nevertheless, for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, the BJP has favored Chirag Paswan over Paras, acknowledging the former's superior influence and popularity among voters.
