Patna, Feb 15 (NationPress) The Patna High Court convened on Friday to address matters concerning the 70th BPSC Civil Services Preliminary Examination and issued a critical order to the Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) to maintain the CCTV footage recorded at the examination centers.
A division bench led by Acting Chief Justice Ashutosh Kumar and Justice Parth Sarthi reviewed the petition submitted by Anand Legal Aid Forum Trust.
The court permitted the applicant’s attorney additional time to reply to the counter affidavit submitted by the state government and BPSC.
Previously, the High Court had requested the state government and BPSC to address the issues raised in the petition.
The court underlined the necessity of securing the CCTV footage.
The Anand Legal Aid Forum Trust initially sought the intervention of the Supreme Court, which chose not to hear the case and redirected the petitioners to pursue the matter in the Patna High Court.
Consequently, the petition was lodged in the Patna High Court, where it is presently under review.
Previously, 14 petitions were submitted in the Patna High Court demanding the annulment and re-examination of the 70th BPSC PT exam. The court consolidated all petitions into one case.
On January 16, a single bench presided by Justice Arvind Singh Chandel examined a separate petition from Pappu Kumar and others concerning the BPSC examination process.
The bench instructed BPSC and the state government to submit affidavits in their response, which were filed on January 31. The bench refused to suspend the announcement of exam results but determined that the eventual outcome of the case would ascertain the legitimacy of the BPSC PT results.
The instruction to safeguard CCTV footage is a vital step toward ensuring transparency in the BPSC examination procedure in light of allegations of irregularities.
The forthcoming hearing of this case is set for February 28 and will be pivotal in determining the future of the examination results.
