Examinees Petition Patna High Court for Cancellation of 70th BPSC Exam

Patna, Jan 10 (NationPress) The claims of irregularities concerning the 70th Bihar Public Service Commission Preliminary examination have intensified, as a collective of candidates submitted a petition to the Patna High Court on Thursday, requesting the cancellation and re-conducting of the examination that took place on December 13.
This situation has arisen amidst ongoing protests from examinees and previous unsuccessful attempts to escalate the issue to the Supreme Court.
Under the leadership of Pappu Kumar and fellow candidates, the petition claims extensive rigging and calls for the annulment of the examination.
The candidates assert that the examination process was flawed, which undermined the fairness and credibility of the outcomes.
As candidates express dissatisfaction with the government's inaction, the issue has gained traction, compelling them to seek judicial intervention.
On January 7, the Supreme Court addressed a related petition submitted by a law firm, which also sought the cancellation of the exam due to alleged manipulation.
The petition urged action against officials, including the Superintendent of Police and the District Magistrate, for their involvement in suppressing protesting students, along with a CBI investigation overseen by a retired Supreme Court judge.
However, the bench, consisting of CJI Sanjiv Khanna, Justice Sanjay Kumar, and Justice KV Vishwanathan, opted not to hear the petition, directing the petitioners to first approach the Patna High Court.
The court highlighted the need for due process, reiterating that the High Court is the suitable venue for raising such issues.
For several days, candidates have actively protested the alleged irregularities, with demonstrations and hunger strikes occurring in Gardanibagh, Patna.
Their chief demand remains the cancellation of the preliminary examination and the re-conducting of the test under transparent conditions.
They have also called for accountability from the relevant authorities regarding any failings in the examination process.
This case in the Patna High Court could play a crucial role in addressing the candidates' concerns and determining if the alleged irregularities justify the cancellation and re-examination.
