Students Stage Protest in Patna Calling for BPSC Exam Cancellation

Patna, Dec 18 (NationPress) The turmoil regarding the 70th Combined Competitive Examination prelims conducted by the Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) has intensified, leading to a significant protest by candidates advocating for the cancellation of the examination.

Although the BPSC has annulled the exam at the Bapu Examination Complex Centre in Patna due to complications like late question paper delivery, candidates are now raising concerns regarding the integrity of the entire examination process.

On December 13, the examination at this centre faced disruption due to delays in receiving the question paper.

Out of 12,000 candidates, merely 5,500 OMR sheets were submitted, which has raised doubts about the transparency and fairness of the examination.

While the BPSC has canceled the examination at the Bapu Examination Complex, it has asserted that the exams at the remaining 911 centres were conducted fairly.

Hundreds of students assembled at the Gardanibagh protest site in Patna, insisting that the entire exam be annulled and conducted again.

These students have termed their protest as "Chhatra Satyagraha" (Student Struggle), with the rallying cry "One slogan, one demand -- re-exam, re-exam".

Dilip Kumar, a student leader, expressed strong support for the protesting candidates.

"Not only should the exam at the Patna centre be cancelled, but the entire examination should be scrapped, and a new one conducted with full transparency. We demanded that the BPSC should release CCTV footage from all the other 911 centres to ensure that the exams were conducted fairly," Kumar stated.

Dilip Kumar and fellow protesters have voiced concerns that the BPSC has not managed to demonstrate the transparency of the examination process.

Despite only one centre's exam being annulled, students worry that similar problems might have occurred at other centres, which have not yet been investigated or disclosed.

Protesters are calling for the BPSC to cancel the examination conducted on December 13 and conduct a fresh examination.

Dilip Kumar has requested a high-level inquiry into the entire examination process, suggesting that it should be conducted under the oversight of a retired Supreme Court judge.
