Patna Police Employ Force Against BPSC Aspirants

Patna, Dec 25 (NationPress) The Patna Police employed a cane charge against Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) candidates on the city's Bailey Road on Wednesday, as stated by the police.
The candidates have been staging a dharna since December 13 at Gardanibagh, calling for the cancellation of the 70th BPSC Combined Examination.
The situation intensified when protesters, frustrated by the lack of response from the BPSC, marched towards the commission's office, leading to police intervention.
As candidates attempted to encircle the BPSC office, police used a cane charge to disperse the crowd.
This action faced backlash for the use of force against the protesting students.
The BPSC conducted the 70th BPSC Combined Examination at 912 centres across Bihar.
The candidates are pressing for the cancellation of the examination due to the chaos that erupted at the Bapu Examination Centre in Patna on December 13.
The turmoil at the Bapu Examination Centre resulted in the cancellation of the examination at that location.
BPSC has scheduled a re-examination at that centre on January 4.
Protesters are dissatisfied with the BPSC's decision to cancel only the examination at the Bapu Examination Centre.
They are demanding the cancellation of the entire examination, arguing that irregularities were not confined to just one centre.
The controversy surrounding the 70th BPSC Combined Examination has taken a political turn, with opposition parties, including Purnea MP Pappu Yadav, expressing support for the protesting candidates and criticizing the Bihar government for its management of the situation.
Opposition leader and Rashtriya Janata Dal leader Tejashwi Yadav has condemned the BPSC and the Nitish Kumar government, accusing them of jeopardizing the future of the state's youth.
"We have demanded the cancellation of the entire examination. If our demand is not met, we will initiate a statewide shutdown on January 1," Yadav stated while speaking with the media in Purnea.
"The BPSC's decision to cancel the examination only at the Bapu Examination Centre, while leaving the rest of the examination untouched, is insufficient and unjust," he added.
He maintains that irregularities likely occurred beyond just one examination centre and insists that a fresh examination should be conducted across all centres.
