Patna, Jan 20 (NationPress) The lack of decisive action regarding the suspicious death of a NEET aspirant at Shambhu Girls’ Hostel in Patna has cast significant doubt on the effectiveness of the state government and local law enforcement.

Despite the passage of several days since the tragic event, the Special Investigation Team (SIT) formed to investigate the matter has not reached any conclusive findings, prompting widespread criticism and political disputes.

This incident has ignited intense political backlash, particularly from Rohini Acharya, the daughter of RJD leader Lalu Prasad Yadav, who has persistently challenged the Bihar government and Patna Police regarding their management of the case.

In a recent post on social media platform X, Rohini Acharya accused both the government and the SIT of being unresponsive to pivotal details of the investigation, while the state’s Home Minister has been providing what she referred to as standard and “cliched” replies.

Expressing her worries, Rohini stated, “The investigation lacks direction… it seems like an effort to mislead!! A growing sentiment among the people of Bihar is that those who still hold hope in the police investigation concerning the Shambhu Girls’ Hostel case are living in a fantasy.”

She further pointed out that nearly two weeks have elapsed since the incident, and the existing evidence along with the post-mortem report have already clarified numerous issues.

“Yet, under the pretense of an investigation, the police are offering a new misleading and confusing narrative daily,” she asserted.

Rohini also called attention to the inaction against individuals she believes are culpable, naming the hostel operators, Sahaj Surgery Nursing Home, Prabhat Memorial Hospital, Dr Satish of Prabhat Hospital, a female police officer from Chitragupta Nagar police station, and the Senior Superintendent of Police of Patna.

She claimed that the SIT has not addressed why the primary accused remains at large.

Moreover, she criticized the state leadership, noting that the Chief Minister has not commented on the situation, while the Home Minister seems to be merely providing formal responses without tackling essential concerns.

In conclusion, Rohini Acharya alleged that the Bihar government and police are intentionally stalling and diverting the investigation.

“It seems that the investigation is being extended to allow the issue to fade away, in an effort to shield the accused and perpetrators under significant pressure,” she claimed.

The incident occurred on January 6, when a girl preparing for the NEET-UG examination was discovered unconscious in her room at Shambhu Girls’ Hostel in Chitraguptnagar, Patna.

She was later taken to a private hospital, where she unfortunately passed away on January 11.

A post-mortem examination conducted at Patna Medical College and Hospital (PMCH) indicated that the possibility of sexual assault could not be excluded, according to the medical professionals who performed the autopsy.
