Patna, Jan 14 (NationPress) A 20-year-old individual was reportedly fatally stabbed by a group following a confrontation regarding tea and cigarettes in Patna, causing widespread alarm in the vicinity, according to police reports.
The event transpired near Nectar Hospital in the Lohia Nagar area, which falls under the jurisdiction of the Kankarbagh police station.
The victim has been named as Gaurav Kumar, a student in his first year of BA studies.
As per statements from the victim's relatives, the attackers initially pursued Gaurav down the street, subdued him, and repeatedly stabbed him.
Gaurav hailed from Ramnagar Hridanbigaha village, located under the Barahiya police station in Lakhisarai district. His father operates a gate-grill business in Patna, and Gaurav had recently come to the city from his home village.
According to Gaurav's brother, Saurav, the conflict started around 4 p.m. on Tuesday when Gaurav handed over Rs 200 to a youth at MIG Park for purchasing tea and cigarettes.
When the money was not returned, a confrontation ensued. As the situation intensified, a group of youths allegedly encircled Gaurav and attacked him.
Afterward, Gaurav is reported to have gone to a store in Lohia Nagar to alert his family.
Saurav mentioned that at approximately 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, a group of 15 to 20 youths arrived at the shop and assaulted Gaurav at the entrance.
Family members who tried to intervene were also attacked, resulting in injuries to several individuals, he stated.
Gaurav suffered severe stab wounds and was taken to Nectar Hospital, where he unfortunately succumbed to his injuries the following day, according to police.
Upon receiving the news, Kankarbagh police promptly arrived at the scene and initiated an investigation. A forensic team also gathered evidence from the site.
The police reported that four suspects have been detained, and efforts are ongoing to apprehend the remaining individuals involved.
“All four detained individuals are minors, and the episode occurred in a moment of rage. We detained the suspects on Wednesday, and we will soon arrest the rest of those involved,” stated Abhinav, SDPO-1 of Sadar range, Patna.
An FIR has been filed at the Kankarbagh police station.
