New Delhi, March 17 (NationPress) The President of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP-SP), Sharad Pawar, has addressed a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, expressing his heartfelt thanks for honoring his request regarding the Marathi Sahitya Sammelan and demonstrating a special affection towards him.
“Your thoughtful and impactful speech resonated with the Marathi community globally. I sincerely appreciate your kind gesture reflecting your special warmth towards me during the inauguration,” Pawar conveyed in his letter.
The NCP (SP) leader's note of gratitude comes shortly after PM Modi accepted his appeal and inaugurated the 98th 'Akhil Bharatiya Marathi Sahitya Sammelan', hosted at Vigyan Bhawan in the capital last month.
This literary event was organized by Sarhad Pune and the Akhil Bharatiya Marathi Sahitya Mahamandal.
“This literary gathering gained historic importance under your esteemed guidance,” Pawar added.
In a post on social media, the NCP (SP) chief also revealed that he has requested the Prime Minister's support in obtaining the necessary permissions from the Delhi Government and NDMC for the installation of sculptures of Peshwa Bajirao I, Mahadaji Shinde, and Subedar Malhar Rao Holkar at Talkatora Stadium.
“The venue, Talkatora Stadium in New Delhi, carries significant historical and cultural importance. It was once the very place where Peshwa Bajirao I, Mahadaji Shinde, and Subedar Malhar Rao Holkar camped, their legacy ingrained in our nation's history. Recognizing this, Sarhad Pune initially suggested placing half-statues of these legendary figures at this site. However, many literary figures and supporters have expressed that full-sized equestrian statues would serve as a more appropriate tribute to their valor and contributions,” he mentioned in the letter.
Pawar urged the Prime Minister to assist in securing the necessary permissions from the Delhi government and NDMC for the installation of these full-sized equestrian statues at the venue.
