Tirupati, June 16 (NationPress) Union Minister for Commerce and Industry Piyush Goyal, currently in Andhra Pradesh, was compelled to cancel his planned visit to the state's Krishnapatnam port after a technical issue arose with the helicopter he was set to travel in.
The malfunction was identified after the minister had already boarded the aircraft in this renowned temple town.
The Central minister, who had previously offered prayers at the Tirumala temple, was scheduled to make his way to the Krishnapatnam port.
Director General of Police Harish Kumar Gupta has taken a serious note of the technical difficulties encountered in the helicopter utilized by the Chief Minister and other dignitaries. He has requested a detailed report from the relevant officials.
Goyal, who landed in Amaravati on Sunday for a two-day official visit, arrived in Tirupati following a discussion with Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu.
The Union Minister, along with family members, participated in prayers at the Sri Venkateswara temple atop Tirumala on Monday morning.
Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam (TTD) Chairman B.R. Naidu warmly welcomed the Union Minister and made special arrangements for his darshan. After the darshan, Vedic scholars performed Veda Ashirvachanam, bestowing sacred blessings on Goyal at the Ranganayakula Mandapam.
"I prayed to Lord Venkateswara for blessings aimed at the nation's growth and societal welfare. I asked for success in the Central government's initiatives towards a Viksit Bharat and for India to emerge as a Vishwaguru," Goyal stated after the ceremonies.
Andhra Pradesh Ministers Anagani Satya Prasad and T.G. Bharat accompanied the Union Minister.
On Sunday, Goyal met with Chief Minister Naidu. The discussions revolved around various challenges that tobacco and aquaculture farmers in the state are currently facing.
Naidu requested the Centre to allocate Rs 150 crore for tobacco procurement, to reduce the import duty on crude palm oil, and to engage with US authorities to lower the 27 percent tariff on aqua products.
