New Delhi, Dec 4 (NationPress) Under the Production-Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme tailored for the food processing sector (PLISFPI), a total investment amounting to Rs 9,207 crore has been reported by the approved applicants, as disclosed in Parliament on Thursday.
Moreover, 25 mega food parks sanctioned by the ministry are presently operational throughout the nation, as stated by Union Food Processing Industries Minister Chirag Paswan in a Lok Sabha response.
In alignment with the ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat Abhiyan-Vocal for Local Initiative in the food processing domain, the Ministry of Food Processing Industries (MoFPI) is actively executing a centrally-sponsored PM Formalisation of Micro Food Processing Enterprises (PMFME) scheme. This initiative is aimed at delivering financial, technical, and business backing for the establishment and enhancement of micro food processing enterprises across the country.
The scheme primarily adopts the One District One Product (ODOP) model to promote balanced regional growth across all districts, the minister elaborated.
Its objective is to choose, brand, and market a minimum of One Product from each district (One District One Product) to facilitate comprehensive socio-economic development across all regions, he added.
Under the ODOP initiative, products have been selected by states/UTs, considering the existing ecosystem in the districts. Currently, ODOP has been approved for 726 districts across 35 states/UTs under this initiative.
The ministry held the fourth edition of ‘World Food India’ in September in New Delhi. This event attracted numerous international exhibitors, providing a platform for the promotion of ODOP-based food products among both domestic and international buyers.
Additionally, the Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA), which operates under the Department of Commerce, is tasked with enhancing the export of agricultural products from India.
APEDA offers support to its registered exporters through the Agriculture and Processed Food Export Promotion Scheme, which includes various components such as Infrastructure Development, Quality Development, and Market Development.
