New Delhi, Jan 31 (NationPress) The chief priest of Bageshwar Dham, Dhirendra Shastri, stated on Friday that the Maha Kumbh incident was a deliberate and funded scheme aimed at damaging the reputation of Hindutva.

In an interview with IANS in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh, he described the event as tragic, heartbreaking, and beyond belief.

He noted that while overcrowding contributed to the stampede which resulted in the deaths of 30 individuals and injuries to over 60, he asserted that there was a broader plot to tarnish the image of Hindutva.

Following the stampede, the Opposition criticized the Uttar Pradesh government for its crowd management failures and the prevalence of VIP culture.

In response to the tragedy that occurred early on Wednesday, the Uttar Pradesh government implemented new regulations to improve crowd management.

Measures taken include restricting vehicle access, cancelling VIP passes, enhancing security measures, and eliminating unnecessary restrictions on the pontoon bridges linking the Mela City.

The entry of cars and buses from outside Prayagraj has been prohibited until February 4.

In the wake of the incident, a three-member judicial panel has been established to investigate the causes behind the stampede.

The members of the Judicial Enquiry Commission are scheduled to arrive in Prayagraj at approximately 1 PM on Friday.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath also declared a compensation of Rs 25 lakh for the families of the deceased.

Interestingly, a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) was submitted to the Supreme Court on Thursday, calling for legal action against officials for their negligent behavior.

The petition emphasized that the incident highlights the dire condition and fate of individuals due to the administrative lapses, negligence, and total failure of government authorities.
