New Delhi, June 9 (NationPress) On the milestone of Narendra Modi completing 11 years in his role as Prime Minister, Padma Shri recipient Kanubhai Hasmukhbhai Tailor expressed his belief that for him, the Prime Minister represents the embodiment of divinity. He extended his gratitude for the immense support and acknowledgment he has received under Modi's leadership.
In an interview with IANS, social worker Tailor attributed the transformation of not only his life but also the lives of numerous differently-abled individuals throughout India to PM Modi's efforts.
“For me, Narendra Modi is god incarnate,” Tailor remarked. “From the moment he became the Chief Minister of Gujarat, he has tirelessly worked to integrate differently-abled children and adults into society. The credit for this progress solely belongs to him.”
Tailor, who operates a school for differently-abled children in Surat, Gujarat, received the Padma Shri in 2018 for his remarkable contributions to social service and disability welfare.
He commended the Modi administration for its transparent and inclusive approach to award selection and for prioritizing the welfare of the disabled.
He reminisced about PM Modi's personal involvement in the establishment of his school, stating, “With his assistance, we acquired land in Surat for the school. Modi ji even inaugurated a hospital dedicated to the differently-abled. He once encouraged me, ‘Start teaching the children from tomorrow morning.’ That motivation led us to create a BCA college for the differently-abled, which has now attained university recognition.”
Tailor also shed light on the unfortunate plight of disabled beggars in India, expressing, “Many are compelled to live on railway platforms and streets. After they pass away, their remains often go unclaimed.”
In response to this situation, he has initiated plans for an old-age home in Bharuch’s Uchedia village, situated along the Narmada River, to accommodate 12 disabled individuals.
“This will resemble a resort and is projected to cost around Rs 20 crore,” he disclosed.
The foundation stone of the project was laid by Gujarat CM Bhupendra Patel, with KP Group Chairman Faruk Patel overseeing the home’s development.
Applauding PM Modi’s keen eye for talent and dedication to recognizing genuine social heroes, Tailor stated, “Modi ji travels across the nation, noticing individuals who are sincerely contributing to society. He immediately grasps their character and ensures they receive recognition. For many recipients of the Padma awards, it often comes as a complete surprise. Modi ji is a blessing, elevating ordinary individuals to national prominence.”
He also praised the changes implemented post-2014 in the Padma award selection process: “Now, individuals from rural backgrounds and various sectors like handicrafts, agriculture, education, and social work are honored. The process is not only transparent but also inspiring. The government is acknowledging unsung heroes.”
Tailor concluded with heartfelt gratitude: “I was merely an ordinary individual. PM Modi granted me recognition both in India and globally, assisted in establishing a school and a hospital, and helped integrate differently-abled individuals into society. His vision and commitment are steering India in a new direction. I hold immense respect for him.”
