New Delhi, Nov 20 (NationPress) Prime Minister Narendra Modi extended his congratulations to Nitish Kumar following his oath-taking as the Chief Minister of Bihar. Modi referred to Kumar as an experienced administrator and commended his history of good governance within the state.
Nitish Kumar was officially sworn in as Chief Minister on Thursday, with Governor Arif Mohammad Khan administering the oath at the historic Gandhi Maidan in Patna.
In a post on X, PM Modi expressed, "Congratulations to Shri Nitish Kumar Ji on being sworn in as Bihar's Chief Minister. He is an experienced administrator with a track record of good governance over many years. I wish him all the best for his tenure ahead."
Arriving at Patna Airport around 11 a.m., Prime Minister Modi took a helicopter directly to the ceremony location.
This marks the first occasion that PM Modi has attended a swearing-in ceremony for Nitish Kumar, who has been sworn in five times since Modi assumed the role of Prime Minister in 2014.
Kumar has held office under both the NDA and the Grand Alliance during his time, making this the first event where PM Modi was present for his oath-taking.
Nitish Kumar took the oath as Chief Minister for the 10th time at 11:30 a.m.
His initial term as Chief Minister began in 2000, although it lasted only seven days. Since regaining control in 2005, he has been sworn in nine consecutive times, achieving a historic 10th oath today.
Samrat Choudhary, a victorious MLA from Tarapur, was sworn in immediately after Kumar as one of the new Deputy Chief Ministers of Bihar.
Next, Vijay Sinha was also sworn in, taking on the role of Deputy Chief Minister.
Several other ministers, including Vijay Kumar Choudhary, Mangal Pandey, Dilip Jaiswal, Shravan Kumar, and Bijendra Yadav, were sworn in alongside Nitish Kumar.
After the ceremony, Prime Minister Modi congratulated all the newly sworn-in ministers.
