Is PM Modi the Most Popular Democratic Leader Worldwide?

New Delhi, July 26 (NationPress) Prime Minister Narendra Modi has once again achieved the distinction of being the most admired democratic leader globally, as per the latest Democratic Leader Approval Ratings. The BJP celebrated this milestone on Saturday, attributing it to Modi’s unwavering dedication to governance, social welfare, and empowerment initiatives. In contrast, the Congress party has dismissed these ratings as deceptive and disconnected from the realities faced in India.

Uttar Pradesh's Deputy Chief Minister, Keshav Prasad Maurya, praised the ranking, stating, “PM Modi is the world’s top leader, and we take immense pride in this recognition. This honor isn’t merely a gift; it is a testament to his service towards the poor, development, and women’s empowerment—everything he has done as both Chief Minister and Prime Minister. It’s all thanks to the citizens of the nation.”

However, Congress spokesperson Sachin Sawant ridiculed the statistics, labeling the 75 percent approval rating as “absurd.”

He raised doubts about the credibility of the organization responsible for the survey, questioning any ties it might have with the BJP-RSS coalition.

Sawant remarked to IANS: “If such a survey were conducted in India, PM Modi's popularity would be at an all-time low. Those who once boasted of exceeding 400 seats have dwindled to 240. If elections were held today, the BJP would struggle to secure even half the seats. This is all mere propaganda aimed at sowing confusion.”

The ratings were published by Morning Consult, a US-based intelligence organization known for conducting global political surveys. Their recent data, gathered between July 4 and July 10, 2025, reveals that Prime Minister Modi achieved a notable 75 percent approval rating, solidifying his position as the leader of democratic leaders worldwide.

In second place is South Korea's freshly elected President Lee Jae Myung, who garnered a 59 percent approval rating. In stark contrast, US President Donald Trump, who resumed office last year, ranked eighth with a 44 percent approval rating.

Morning Consult collects its data via a rolling seven-day average, polling thousands of adults in leading democratic nations to gauge real-time public sentiment regarding leadership.

The July survey indicates that three-quarters of respondents globally view PM Modi positively. Only 18 percent expressed disapproval, while 7 percent remained neutral or uncertain.

Since commencing his third consecutive term in May 2024, PM Modi has sustained both national and international acclaim. Analysts attribute this to India's economic success, strategic diplomatic ties, and flagship welfare initiatives aimed at the economically disadvantaged, women, and rural populations.

South Korean President Lee Jae Myung, though new to his role, has rapidly garnered considerable approval domestically. Despite 29 percent of respondents disapproving of his leadership, a robust support base has already emerged, per the survey.

This isn't the first instance of Prime Minister Modi topping the global approval charts.

Since September 2021, he has steadily led the Morning Consult rankings, maintaining approval ratings between 70 percent and 76 percent, outperforming all other democratic leaders.
