PM Modi Reflects on Swami Vivekananda’s Perspective on Science as a Catalyst for Progress

New Delhi, Dec 9 (NationPress) Underlining that Swami Vivekananda was a prominent proponent of contemporary science, Prime Minister Narendra Modi remarked on Monday that the founder of the Ramakrishna Mission held the view that the essence of science lay in its ability to inspire and advance society.

During an event at Ramakrishna Math in Gujarat via video conferencing, PM Modi highlighted India’s expanding influence in the realm of modern technology.

He asserted that India’s identity has been enhanced by milestones such as becoming the world's third largest startup ecosystem, progressing towards becoming the world's third largest economy, advancements in infrastructure, and addressing global challenges.

PM Modi stated that the contemporary India is advancing based on its knowledge, traditions, and age-old teachings.

Emphasizing that spirituality and sustainable development are two crucial concepts to remember for improving the planet, the Prime Minister noted that by blending these two principles, we can forge a brighter future.

He mentioned that Swami Vivekananda highlighted the practical aspects of spirituality that meet societal needs.

Furthermore, PM Modi pointed out that alongside purity of thoughts, Swami Vivekananda also stressed the importance of maintaining a clean environment.

The Prime Minister asserted that the aim of sustainable development can be realized by striking a balance among economic growth, social welfare, and environmental protection.

Sharing his vision for engaging youth in politics, PM Modi remarked, “Swami Vivekananda believed that youth power is the backbone of the nation.”

He announced that the birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda on January 12, 2025, will be commemorated as Youth Day.

PM Modi emphasized the Government’s commitment to introducing 1 lakh talented and energetic youth into politics in the near future.

He added that these young individuals would represent the new face of Indian politics in the 21st century and shape the future of the country.

Highlighting that the nation has a significant opportunity due to its young demographic, PM Modi stressed the necessity to equip the youth for leadership roles in all aspects of nation-building.

“Our youth must lead the country in politics just as they do in technology and other fields,” he articulated.
