New Delhi, Aug 31 (NationPress) Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his gratitude on Sunday towards the Indian Armed Forces, National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), local volunteers, and social workers for their commendable efforts in rescue operations as the monsoon continues to cause chaos across multiple regions of the nation.
The monsoon season has brought about extensive destruction across India, affecting areas from the North to the South. States including Jammu and Kashmir, Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Rajasthan, Maharashtra, and Karnataka have faced severe impacts due to heavy rainfall, resulting in floods, landslides, and flash floods.
During the 125th episode of his monthly radio show, 'Mann Ki Baat', PM Modi remarked, "This monsoon season has tested our nation with natural disasters. Recently, we have seen devastating impacts from floods and landslides. Homes have been destroyed, fields submerged, and families devastated. The relentless rise in water levels has swept away bridges, washed out roads, and endangered lives."
He expressed that these tragedies have touched the hearts of all Indians. "We all share the sorrow of those families who have lost their loved ones," he noted.
Praising the dedication of rescue personnel during these challenging times, the Prime Minister stated, "In every crisis, our NDRF, SDRF, and other security forces have tirelessly worked to save lives. The armed forces have utilized technology to enhance rescue and relief operations, employing thermal cameras, live detectors, sniffer dogs, and drone surveillance."
Extending his appreciation, PM Modi said, "Relief materials were delivered via helicopters, and the injured were airlifted. The armed forces stepped up during this crisis. Local residents, social workers, doctors, and civil administration all made significant contributions in this time of need. I wholeheartedly thank every individual who has placed humanity above all else during these trying times."
