Imphal, Sep 12 (NationPress) Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to inaugurate 17 projects and lay the foundation stones for 14 additional initiatives, amounting to a substantial investment of Rs 8,500 crore in Manipur this coming Saturday, according to a senior official's announcement on Friday.
Manipur Chief Secretary Puneet Kumar Goel revealed that the Prime Minister will lay the groundwork for multiple development projects with a total value of Rs 7,300 crore at the Peace Ground in Churachandpur. Additionally, he will inaugurate infrastructure projects valued at Rs 1,200 crore from Kangla Fort in Imphal.
Upon his arrival in Churachandpur from Aizawl, the capital of Mizoram, PM Modi will first engage with the Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) affected by recent violence in the region, predominantly inhabited by Kuki-Zo tribals.
During the event at Peace Ground, he will lay the foundation stones for various infrastructural initiatives across the state and address the public gathering, as per the Chief Secretary's briefing to the media.
After concluding his activities in Churachandpur, the Prime Minister will head to Kangla Fort in Imphal on Saturday afternoon, where he will once again interact with the IDPs.
PM Modi will inaugurate various developmental initiatives both within and beyond the state that pertains to Manipur. He will also address the audience at Kangla Fort.
The Chief Secretary stated, “These projects highlight the Prime Minister’s unwavering commitment to the development and welfare of the region.”

The collaborative efforts of all stakeholders have gradually brought stability and security to the state. He emphasized, “The Prime Minister's visit to the state will be instrumental in reinstating peace, normalcy, and accelerating developmental growth.”
On behalf of both the Manipur and Central governments, the Chief Secretary encouraged the local populace to warmly welcome the Prime Minister during his visit and actively participate in the program. The 17 projects that PM Modi will inaugurate include the Manipur Bhawan in Dwarka, New Delhi and Salt Lake City in Kolkata, the Civil Secretariat, new Police Headquarters, and the Special Economic Zone (SEZ) building at Mantripukhri in the Imphal West district, as well as Ima Markets (women-centric markets) at four locations (Tengnoupal, Noney, Pallel, Moirang), the development of the Western River Front of Imphal River Phase-II in Imphal, the construction of a four-lane bridge over the Irang River on the Imphal-Jiribam National Highway-38 in Noney district, and the Eklavya Model Residential School (EMRS) at Tokpa village, Loktak Project, in Churachandpur district.
The 14 projects for which PM Modi will lay foundation stones include the Manipur urban roads, drainage and asset management improvement project, the Manipur Infotech Development (MIND) Project aimed at enhancing infrastructure in Imphal and promoting skill development and employment across the state, upgrades and dual-laning of National Highway 102A in Tengnoupal district, the establishment of Working Women Hostels at nine locations, and the enhancement of 120 high schools and higher secondary institutions across all 16 districts, along with the provision of super specialty and assured specialty healthcare in remote and hilly areas.
