The Padma Vibhushan laureate, known for her Pandwani performances that have showcased India’s rich folk storytelling heritage on a global platform, has been grappling with health issues.
In a conversation lasting around 1 minute and 18 seconds, PM Modi expressed his concern and assured support to Teejan Bai's family, speaking with her daughter-in-law, Venu Deshmukh.
Venu shared with IANS that Teejan Bai is currently unable to consume solid food and is relying on soup for her nutrition. “The Prime Minister mentioned that he wished to meet her in person but was unable to due to various reasons. Today, while in Chhattisgarh, he called to check on her condition and offered help for any needs,” she stated.
She further mentioned that Teejan Bai’s entire family holds great admiration for PM Modi, making his gesture all the more meaningful. The call profoundly touched the family. “I could not believe that PM Modi was calling,” she said, adding, “A medical team visited our home to check on Teejan ji after the call.” Venu praised the Modi government for its extensive efforts to eradicate Maoism in the region.
