Guwahati, May 2 (NationPress) Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal, during his campaign for the Panchayat elections, stated on Friday that the village development initiatives led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi have significantly enhanced the rural infrastructure throughout the nation.
Addressing a rally in Maloibari, located in the Kamrup district, Sonowal remarked that the past decade of development under PM Modi has brought renewed attention to empowering villages with quality education, improved infrastructure, and robust local institutions.
“Education is the bedrock of empowerment. Over the last 10 years, the Modi-led NDA government has made considerable strides in ensuring that the Yuva Shakti in even the most remote villages of Assam have access to quality education, better schools, and the chance to aspire for greater dreams,” Sonowal commented.
“We have made substantial investments in school infrastructure, digital learning tools, scholarships, and teacher training. These form the essential components of Viksit Bharat.
He further highlighted that initiatives such as NEP 2020 reforms are laying the groundwork for inclusive and modern education across the country, particularly in rural and tribal regions.
“By enhancing school facilities, providing free uniforms, books, mid-day meals, and incorporating technology into classrooms, we are not merely improving access to education but also helping to shape the minds of students—we are nurturing confident citizens poised to advance Panchayati Raj institutions. They represent our future and are crucial to realizing the vision of ‘Viksit Bharat’,” Sonowal added.
He went on to say: “PM Modi has ensured the complete elimination of middle-man politics associated with Congress. Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) is just one of the many solutions for the corruption that has plagued us for decades due to the Congress’s misgovernance. Funds are now reaching the grassroots, directly benefiting the individuals. Local institutions are actively involved in planning and executing development projects. Education, healthcare, infrastructure—all are now accessible to rural families.”
The Union Minister emphasized that these initiatives are more than mere statistics; they are tangible benefits that are transforming the lives of rural children, women, farmers, and youth.
“Through scholarships, digital classrooms, and support for girl child education, we are ensuring no one is left behind. The Modi government’s dedication to Nari Shakti has resulted in increased representation of women in Panchayati Raj institutions, empowering them to take charge of decision-making at the grassroots level. Through schemes like Ujjwala Yojana, Poshan Abhiyan, and Beti Bachao Beti Padhao, women in rural Assam are becoming catalysts for change within their communities,” Sonowal concluded.
