New Delhi, March 3 (NationPress) Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to engage in three post-budget webinars on March 4, focusing on the role of MSMEs as a vital growth engine, alongside discussions on manufacturing, exports, and economic reforms aimed at enhancing the ease of doing business, as stated in a PMO announcement issued on Monday.
The Prime Minister will address participants via video conferencing, creating a collaborative space for government officials, industry leaders, and trade specialists to explore India’s strategies in industry, trade, and energy, as per the statement.
Topics during the webinars will include policy execution, investment facilitation, and technology adoption, all geared towards ensuring the smooth implementation of the Budget’s transformative initiatives. The sessions will involve private sector experts, industry representatives, and subject matter specialists to coordinate efforts and drive effective execution of Budget announcements, the statement noted.
The Union Budget for 2025-26, presented by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on February 1, highlights that Agriculture, MSME, Investment, and Exports are “engines of growth in the journey to Viksit Bharat using reforms as fuel, guided by the spirit of inclusivity.”
MSMEs have been recognized as the second engine of inclusive growth in this budget, following agriculture, as they employ 7.5 crore individuals and contribute 36 percent to India’s manufacturing sector. These MSMEs play a crucial role in establishing India as a global manufacturing hub, representing 45 percent of the nation's exports.
To enhance their growth and operational efficiency, the government plans to increase the investment and turnover thresholds for MSMEs, raising them by 2.5 times and 2 times, respectively. This initiative is anticipated to empower MSMEs to expand, innovate, and create additional job opportunities for youth.
The Finance Minister emphasized investment as a key growth engine, encompassing investments in people, the economy, and innovation.
A significant advancement for employment-driven growth is the introduction of the “National Manufacturing Mission” in the Budget, which encompasses small, medium, and large industries, serving as a critical driver for the “Make in India” initiative.
This Mission will focus on five key areas: ease and cost of doing business; future-ready workforce for in-demand jobs; a vibrant MSME sector; technology availability; and delivering quality products, the Finance Minister elaborated.
FM Sitharaman classified Exports as the fourth engine of growth, stating that the Export Promotion Mission, jointly managed by the Ministries of Commerce, MSME, and Finance, will assist MSMEs in accessing the export market.
