Amaravati, Jan 12 (NationPress) In light of the ongoing conflict with Telangana over river water distribution, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu robustly defended the proposed Polavaram-Nallamalla Sagar link project, asserting that it will not be detrimental to anyone.
He questioned the objections regarding the use of water released from upstream in the Godavari River, which is intended to be diverted at Polavaram to Nallamalla Sagar.
“I have never raised concerns about the projects built by Telangana. Both Telugu states can effectively utilize the waters of the Godavari,” he stated.
The Chief Minister made these remarks during a meeting with ministers and secretaries at the Secretariat.
He emphasized that the Polavaram project will be completed and inaugurated before the Godavari Pushkaram.
He described Polavaram as a remarkable initiative, claiming that upon its completion, no other state in South India will be able to match Andhra Pradesh.
“Each year, approximately 3,000 TMC of water is wasted into the sea. By channeling water to the Krishna delta via Pattiseema, we are conserving water in Srisailam and providing it to Rayalaseema. The Nallamala Sagar project presents an opportunity to supply water to Rayalaseema, Prakasam, and other areas,” he explained.
He noted that Telangana State would also benefit by utilizing the surplus water from Polavaram.
Chief Minister Naidu announced that the Bhogapuram International Airport will soon be dedicated to the nation.
He asserted that the coalition government has safeguarded the Visakhapatnam Steel Plant with the cooperation of the central government and a financial assistance of Rs 12,000 crore.
“The Visakhapatnam Steel Plant holds sentimental value for the people of Andhra Pradesh, and we are committed to its protection,” he added.
The Chief Minister revealed that Andhra Pradesh attracted 25% of the foreign investments in the country this financial year.
Stating that the state has become a hub for investments, he mentioned that if all agreements made through the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) come to fruition, it will create 16 lakh jobs.
“We have also sanctioned investments totaling Rs 8.74 lakh crore through the State Investment Promotion Board. These will also lead to significant job creation,” he remarked.
He highlighted that Google is establishing an AI data center in Visakhapatnam with an investment of $15 billion.
He congratulated the officials and government departments for their hard work in securing investments for the state.
“We will soon commence the foundation for the Quantum Valley in Amaravati. A quantum computer will commence operations here within six months,” he concluded.
