Tirupati, March 6 (NationPress) - The Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam (TTD) has filed a police complaint against social media influencer Divvala Madhuri and actress Thanuja Puttaswamy for violating temple regulations by celebrating Madhuri's birthday at Tirumala.

On Friday, TTD, responsible for the management of the renowned hill shrine, announced that its vigilance team has initiated a police complaint seeking legal action against the two individuals.

According to a TTD official, the police are currently investigating the matter.

On Thursday, Madhuri and Thanuja celebrated the latter's birthday at a guesthouse in Tirumala, where they cut a cake and shared the event on social media.

TTD emphasized that such celebrations are strictly forbidden within Tirumala.

Not only did Madhuri and Thanuja bring a birthday cake to the temple, but they also organized the celebration and posted the footage on their social media platforms.

YSR Congress Party MLC Duvvada Srinivas, along with his partner Madhuri and Thanuja, visited Tirumala on Thursday for darshan.

After TTD officials learned about the birthday celebration involving cake-cutting, they promptly filed a complaint with the police.

This incident is not Madhuri's first controversy at the Tirumala temple. In 2024, she faced legal action for allegedly hurting devotees' sentiments during a visit with Srinivas.

During that visit, they offered prayers and were later seen recording videos, which contravened TTD regulations. Madhuri, a dancer, later informed the media that they plan to marry once Srinivas finalizes his divorce from his first wife.

Following complaints from several devotees, TTD's Vigilance and Security Department lodged a complaint against her at the Tirumala I Town Police Station, accusing her of creating a public disturbance by sharing personal matters and details about her relationship with Srinivas on social media.

Point of View

This incident raises significant questions about the adherence to religious customs and regulations in India. The TTD's decisive action underscores the importance of maintaining the sanctity of sacred spaces, while also highlighting ongoing tensions between modern social practices and traditional values.
