Tirupati, Feb 5 (NationPress) Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam (TTD) has commenced disciplinary measures against 18 employees for engaging in non-Hindu religious customs and traditions.

This action comes shortly after the recent appointment of TTD Board Chairman B.R. Naidu, who declared that only Hindus are permitted to work within the temple's institutions.

Among those implicated are six educators from various educational establishments under TTD's management. Further actions have been initiated against a deputy executive officer (Welfare), an assistant executive officer, an assistant technical officer (electrical), a hostel employee, two electricians, and two nurses, who have also been reassigned.

The directive, dated February 1, stipulates that these individuals are prohibited from being assigned to any location in Tirumala, any temple affiliated with TTD, or any religious program-related duties. 'If any of the aforementioned employees are currently stationed in these sensitive religious positions, they should be transferred immediately,' states the order issued by TTD Executive Officer J Syamala Rao.

The list of employees includes Dr. K.V. Vijaya Bhaskar Reddy, a professor at S.V. Ayurvedic College in Tirupati, K. Sujatha and G. Asuntha, lecturer and principal at SPW Degree and PG College in Tirupati, K. Prathap, lecturer at SGS Arts College, K. Manekshaw Dayan, lecturer at S.V. Arts College, and Dr. Renu Dixit, Principal of S.V. Ayurvedic College at Tirupati.

These 18 employees have also been prohibited from participating in any religious ceremonies conducted by TTD.

As per the order, these individuals were found to be involved in and practicing non-Hindu religious traditions despite having pledged before Lord Venkateswara to adhere solely to Hindu dharma and traditions, in accordance with Rule 9 (vi) set forth in GO No 1060 by the Revenue Department (Endowments) on October 24, 1989.

'As dedicated servants of Lord Venkateswara Swamy and the esteemed TTD, all employees are devoted to preserving the sanctity of the temple by honoring traditions and values that have been upheld for centuries and respecting the beliefs and sentiments of the devotees,' reads the directive.

This disciplinary action has been executed following a resolution approved by the TTD Board on November 18, 2024.
