New Delhi, Aug 3 (NationPress) Jagadguru Shankaracharya Swami Avimukteshwaranand Saraswati raised concerns on Sunday regarding the police's inability to apprehend those responsible for the seven devastating blasts that struck Mumbai, the financial hub of the nation.
Speaking to the media, he remarked, "Terrorists carry out these abhorrent acts and manage to flee, showing a significant failure on the part of the police. This reflects poorly on our capabilities."
In response to inquiries about the phrases "Hindu terrorism" and "saffron terrorism," he stated, "Terrorism is devoid of color. A terrorist is simply a terrorist. Would you revere a terrorist dressed in saffron robes? Associating terrorism with certain colors reveals underlying biases."
He advocated for a policy of zero tolerance to combat this ongoing threat.
Addressing Nationalist Congress Party-Sharad Pawar (NCP-SP) MP Jitendra Awhad's assertions that Sanatan Dharma is "dividing" the nation, he commented, "It is the followers of those responsible for the Partition who are making such statements."
Notably, after the verdict in the Malegaon blast case, Awhad claimed, "Sanatan Dharma has brought destruction to India and there was never a religion by that name."
The Shankaracharya emphasized that Hindus are peaceful individuals who value harmonious coexistence.
On the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation covering Dadar Kabutarkhana with plastic and suggesting their relocation, he stated, "Pigeons are a vital part of our ecosystem. If there is a need to relocate them, it should be approached with care and empathy."
When asked about his thoughts on the acquittal of all seven individuals accused in the Malegaon bomb blast case, Swami Avimukteshwaranand expressed his complete trust in the judiciary.
"I won't comment on judicial matters, but I will say that blasts don’t occur spontaneously. Why are both the state and central governments failing to capture those responsible for such crimes?"
It is important to note that six people lost their lives and over 100 were injured in the 2008 Malegaon blasts.
